simple garlands & boughs for your home at Christmas time

It is without a doubt time for me to put on the Christmas movies, bake cookies, and deck the halls with boughs and garlands! Once the first week of December arrives, I am fully into all things Christmas cheer.

I love saving December for the favourite items on my Christmas to-do list, such as decorating, baking and wrapping gifts!

On that note, adding garlands and/or boughs is one of my favourite ways to add Christmas cheer to the inside of a home. I love ones that are simple and include natural elements, such as a white bow tied around foliage.

Often my mom and I will repurpose the bottom branches of the Christmas tree, that my dad will saw off to make room for gifts, as boughs. Depending on where we spend Christmas (my parents are really into real estate) Mom and I generally place the boughs along the fireplace mantle or staircase. We have also weaved garlands of beads or ribbon through them.

Hanging a simple garland from a window is another easy way to add some Christmas cheer to your home. I have strung paper hearts in the past, but a string of bells or dried apples is just as lovely. These take me back to the Christmas markets in Italy.
