First things first… this blog post is long, long overdue. How so? Well for starters, a good 1/3 of my content takes place in the kitchen. Then there’s the fact that I am Italian. That alone is a whole other can of olives. But simply put, most of my childhood memories take place at a kitchen counter. As per my ever-growing Pinterest board of ideas and inspiration, I may also have a slight obsession for a white kitchen.

I have said this once and I’ll say it again and again, the kitchen is the heart of the home. It truly is. At least it always has been for my family. Basically, it is where we gather.

At any rate, I love a giant kitchen island. While the kitchen may be the heart of the home, the island is the heart of the kitchen. My childhood home had one and it hosted everything, from breakfast before school to a not-so-quiet family gathering.

It is also where I baked my first apple crisp, with my grandma’s recipe, and used a stand mixer for the very first time!

In a perfect world (or house plan) these are ten items that I would love to see in my kitchen. This is of course aside from basic appliances:

KITCHEN WISHLIST 

1. Rectangle island with quartz countertop
2. Window with a view and for natural light
3. Floor-to-ceiling shelving and drawer storage options
4. An adjunct butler’s pantry
5. Farmhouse table between living room & kitchen OR a breakfast nook with a round table
6. Double wall oven
7. Farmhouse sink
8. Single-Door fridge and freezer
9. Pot filler
10. Wine cooler
