FACE

cleanser

Either the purifying or foam cleanser will withstand the spring and summer forecast. I keep the purifying cleanser in my shower and use the foam cleanser in the morning and at night.

This multi-purpose gentle exfoliating cleanser from Tatcha is also great!

exfoliating scrub

I keep this deep exfoliating gem in the shower and also use it about 1-2 times a week

purifying mask

I have tried both the clay and charcoal masks and honestly I like them both. It’s really a matter of preference.

A fair warning that the charcoal can leave a bit of a mess on your bathroom vanity if you’re not careful.

toner

As per the generally dry climate in Kelowna, I absolutely must always have a bottle of toner on hand. I apply it immediately after washing or exfoliating my face.

I recently addd the Caudalie toner to my skincare repertoire, which I am loving for minimizing any uninvited pores on my nose.

The Glow Recipe toner also works well and is fun for the spring and summer months.

hydrating serum

This hydrating serum is great to have on hand for those days when you’ve been out in the sun longer than anticipated. Which, seems to happen to me at least once a year.

beauty elixir

I am slightly obsessed with this multi-action face mist and should have added it to my vanity MONTHS ago. It not only hydrates and helps preps your skin for makeup … but it is also amazing for setting your makeup. It is an absolute must for me during this Sephora savings event. I totally get the hype now.

retinol (alternative)

Seconds after discovering fine lines on my forehead, I went on a retinol deep dive.

I started using this bakuchiol + peptides serum. I really recommend it as an introduction to retinol if you also have sensitive skin. It’s a lot less abrasive and was working really well until my face became immune to it.

I have since graduated to using the Caudalie retinol alternative. It is very, very popular in France and I have already noticed a decrease in fine lines.

A reminder that it is generally recommended to avoid retinol if you’ll be within direct sun exposure.

smoothing serum

I really, really want to try this new serum from Bobbi Brown. It is supposedly amazing for prepping your face for makeup. As per recent (and soon to be gone) moisture retention struggles… this serum is without a doubt in my basket.

Acne Treatment

I have been using this salicylic acid serum, along with the toner and cleanser, and it has really helped me get my complexion back on track.

I have also used the Glow Recipe serum in the past. It is also safe for sensitive skin.

The spot gel and dots both work well to diminish a stubborn blemish while you sleep.

I keep this scar fading serum on hand for treating those annoying acne scars. It takes some time to work, but it definitely does.

day cream

Either the First Aid Beauty or Caudalie are a light yet hydrating moisturizer to apply before or in lieu of a primer. I mix in a little with my sunscreen this time of year.

My bestie is obsessed with her cream moisturizer from LaNeige and I kind of want to try it too.

night cream

I just started using this night moisturizer with added retinol (alternative) benefits and so far I’ve been really pleased with it.

This is another night cream reccomendation, from a trusted source, that I may also have to try.

hydrating mask

Because sometimes your face needs a little extra hydration. I apply this light hydrating mask, after removing the clay one, and leave on overnight about 1-2 times a week .

sunscreen

While kind of boring, sunscreen is a rather important yet underrated beauty essential for the spring and summer months.

Last year I added this Laneige sunscreen to my summer skincare lineup. I mix it in with my day cream for extra sun protection.

LIP CARE

exfoliator

Your lips need to be exfoliated too… trust me they will thank you.

lip balm

This Fresh lip balm is super nourishing and l use it all year long, while Farmacy’s honey lip balm is a lighter favourite that I love for the spring and summer months.

I started keeping this Ilia lip balm in my car since it withstands the heat and won’t melt.

lip mask

If your lips tend to get super dry, add either the Ilia or Fresh hydrating lip masks to your bedtime routine.

SPRING & SUMMER MAKEUP

concealer

I keep going back to the NARS (AFFOGATO) concealer for blemish coverage. It’s the best as far as I am concerned.

SPF foundation

Either the SPF 15 loose powder (FAIR) or SPF 30 tinted moisturizer (OPAL 01) are great foundation options that also offer extra sun protection.

I want to try this Bobbi Brown foundation (COOL SAND C-036) for days when need extra coverage but don’t want to sacrifice sun protection.

face palette

I love a little shimmer and glow for the spring and summer months. Being able to keep my bronzer, highlighter and blush (ITALIAN SUMMER) all in one place is a huge added bonus for me, especially when traveling this time of year.

A note that a little really does go a long ways.

brow pencil

Whether it’s the spring or fall savings event, you can pretty much guarantee that this eyebrow pencil (EBONY) will be in my basket.

waterproof mascara & eyeliner

Between beach days and weddings, spring and summer often calls for waterproof eyeliner (ZERO) and mascara (CATWALK BLACK).

Confirming that these are both ugly cry proof.

setting powder & spray

To lock in my makeup, so that it withstands the heat, lately I have been applying this setting powder and setting spray.

The BareMinerals and Laura Mercier are also great setting powder options. While the Urban Decay setting spray remains a best seller for a reason, I would not overlook Caudalie’s face mist.

lip gloss

I may love my lip balms, but I prefer a clear gloss (GLASS) or a subtle pink (MILKY NUDE) for those summer night’s out.

lipstick

I don’t usually wear lipstick, but when I do I will either opt for a satin nude (HAZE) or a sheer pink (NO MORE ORCHIDS).

BATH & BODY

lotion

A really light body lotion, that I am loving for the spring and summer months, is this fragrance-free one from NĂ©cessaire.

body cream

This Caudalie body cream not only moisturizes, but also counteracts any uninvited cellulite.

These L’Occitane and Sol De Janeiro creams are also fantastic for this time of year.

hand cream

In terms of a hand cream, this L’Occitane one continues to be a very faithful and favourite option.

The Caudalie hand cream has been a recent addition and is also great for day and night.

body scrub

As per how much I am loving their body and hand cream, I really want to try Caudalie’s exfoliator too.

self tanner

I’ve been using the tanning spray for the last few summers. Loved the colour, but the bottle was a bit temperamental. I have a feeling that the oil mist will be easier to apply.

A reminder to apply a body lotion right after to lock in that new summer glow on your skin!

HAIR

hydrate

Maintain that healthy gloss look in less than 30 seconds… and no I’m not kidding.

An intense hydrating and repair mask that doesn’t weigh down my hair. My love for honey really wants me to add this honey infused one to my hair mask rotation.

style prep

I apply this blowout cream right after I wash my hair and add this glossing serum once my hair is dry.

heat protectant

Protect your hair from the sun and styling tools while adding a little extra shine. Between special occasions and beach days, for me, this beauty essential is a must during the spring and summer months.

frizz-free

A little bit of this light hair oil really goes a long ways. This dry conditioning oil is even lighter and I apply it as a last step… unless hair spray is involved.

hair spray

Hairspray that you can lightly brush out your curls with or keep intact for a special occasion.

For those days when you are running off of frappuccinos, dark sunglasses, and dry shampoo. Confirming that it is brunette and black hair friendly (I’ve had both). I would also consider giving this one a try.

FRAGRANCE

light floral

To me, Blooming Bouquet is the epitome of spring time and Bright Crystal is as playful as a summer’s night. In my books, they are equally vital spring and summer beauty essentials.

sweet floral

This Jo Malone fragrance takes me back to childhood memories in my grandparent’s orchards while the Marc Jacobs one reminds me of a subtly sweet strawberry patch. I really do love them both.

BEAUTY TOOLS & ACCESSORIES

sponge applicator

I love my Beautyblender! The sponge doesn’t absorb a terrible amount of makeup and the point makes it easier to blend concealer under my eyes.

Sephora’s angled sponge is also a great option. I have both.

basic makeup brushes

This liquid foundation brush (#64) helps get that airbrushed look.

I also have the powdered bronzer (#96), highlighter (#98), and blush (99) brushes.

I use this brush to apply my setting powder (50).

gua sha

Unfortunately gravity isn’t a friend of the face… but this helps !

supplements case

Because beauty really starts from the inside. Confirming that this adorable little case for supplements is weekend trip friendly.

curling wand

For that effortless beach wave look. I love mine… a lot.

hair dryer

Because there are Dyson hair dryers… on sale.
